Did you know?

Mastering is widely misunderstood, often mangled, and sometimes mistaken for mixing. So, what is mastering? It's the audio step that comes just before manufacturing a CD or pressing a vinyl. Mastering is what gives depth, punch, clarity and volume to your tracks. It is part science, part craft, and part alchemy. . . just like songwriting, singing, performing and recording.

1. What should I know before I upload my music to your server.

- we nicely summarized some of the technical stuff you should know (click here for more info)

Bit resolution: As high as possible. 32 bit floating point if possible (Nuendo, Cubase) or 24 bits (Protools / Logic).
Sampling rate: 44.1 kHz for CD Redbook, 48 or 96 kHz.
File formats: 44.1 kHz for CD Redbook, 48 or 96 kHz
Fades: Please do not fade. Only exception: arranged fades in which different tracks must be faded separately.
Beginnings / Endings: Allow enough time for edits. Please leave at least 500 ms at the start of the recording. This applies in particular to tracks which have been mixed on analog consoles. (Required preview running time (predict) / fingerprints for denoising)
Compression / total limiting: Slight peak limiting is permitted, but please no finalizers, compressors, limiters or similar. Average loudness should not exceed -15 dB / RMS.
Track labeling: Please give the song files the correct track number or name. Reference tracks: We gladly welcome one or two reference tracks.
